A side income from one skill you already have.

You don't need a course, a logo, or an LLC. You need one paying customer this month. Here's how to find them.

Person working at a small home studio desk

Everyone starting a side hustle overthinks step one. Skip the branding, the website, the LLC. Get one paying customer first. Everything else is procrastination in a costume.

The skill you already have

Write down five things people ask you for help with. Fixing wifi, editing baby photos, sorting a spreadsheet, writing a wedding speech. That list is your menu.

The first customer script

Text three people you know: 'I'm offering [thing] for $[small number] this month. Interested, or know anyone who is?' That's the entire launch. No landing page needed.

The price rule

Charge enough that you take it seriously. Cheap customers are the loudest. Aim for a number that would make you slightly proud to tell a friend.

Do the job. Ask for one thing.

After delivery, ask: 'If you had a friend who needed this, would you send them my way?' That single question is a marketing department.

"Businesses are not built. They are noticed — one satisfied customer at a time."
